Hello everyone! I'm very exited to meet all of you this quarter and explore together some applications of computing in science, and learning some Python with you this quarter. I have a passion for High-Performance Computing, Parallel and Distributed Algorithms, Computational Genomics, Data Structures and Compression.

Collaboration Center

Meet TAs, Work, Learn

The Computer Science Collaboration Center is usually located in OU 312, but will be located in the lower floor of Hicks until Olds-Upton is open again. It is a place to hang out and work on computer science by yourself or with your peers! TAs are available for assistance Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. You can also ask questions in the online CS Collaboration Center Teams site. See the Collaboration Center schedule for more details.

WELCOME ALL!

A new quarter begins and new knowledge awaits!
Welcome to Python Programming in a Scientific Computing Context (COMP 104). This half-unit course introduces algorithmic problem solving and basic computer programming in the context of scientific modeling, visualization, and data analysis.

Computing is like solving puzzles. Sometimes everything falls nicely into place, but sometimes you get stuck. Then you try a few things, step back and try to look at the puzzle from a new angle, or take a break. The same thing happens with computing. Give yourself time to experiment, to get stuck, to ask questions, and to experience the satisfaction of a well-solved puzzle!

We have an awesome group of TAs at the CS Collaboration Center (Hicks Computer Lab or online in the CS Collaboration Teams site) where you can go and ask any questions you have. And, of course, my office hours are available to you. Check my weekly schedule and please stop by: we can talk about the things you don't understand, the things you do, and other related (or unrelated) topics.

One last thing:
