Publishing Web Pages Using Aptana Studio 3

In your "Project Explorer" window, there should be an item labeled "Connections". (See picture on the left below.) Double-click or right-click on "Connections" and select "Add New Connection...". (Be careful to select the "Connections" item inside your project directory, not the one at the very bottom of the File window.) A dialog labeled "Connection Manager" will appear. You can leave the "Source" Area unchanged. In the "Destination" area click on the button labeled "New...". This should bring up a dialog labeled "New Connection". Fill out that dialog so that it looks like the picture on the right, substituting your ID and password where appropriate.

Next, click on your project in the "Project Explorer" window, and then click on the upward pointing arrow at the top of that window. If all went well, that should transfer your web page to the college's web server.

After transferring your web page files, check that everything is working the way you want it to by typing http://people.kzoo.edu/k00ab01/CS_web_page/index.html (where k00ab01 is your email address, CS_web_page is whatever you named your web page directory on the server, and index.html is whatever you named your page) in the location window of your web browser. Be sure to test all of your links to check that they still work.

Keep in mind that there are now two copies of your web page, the working copy stored in your Workspace directory and the published copy that is visible to the world. Changes that you make to your working copy will only be visible on the web after you upload them using the file transfer mechanism described here.
